The directors’ board of CareerSource Brevard, the authority for workforce development within Brevard County, Florida, recently announced the recently elected officers for the executive. Colleen Browne, the campus president from Keiser University, Melbourne, was named treasurer for 2020-21.
Browne has been at Keiser University for nearly 30 years, including 16 years as the president of Keiser University Melbourne. She was the Keiser University campus president for its West Palm Beach Campus. She has been an active participant in CareerSource Brevard since 2005; Browne has held various roles, including the organization’s finance committee chair.
“After being as Treasurer on the CareerSource Brevard Board of Directors for more than 15 years and witnessing the positive impact on the positive impact that CSB is having on the community as well as our workforce, it’s an honour and privilege to be a part of the Executive Committee as Treasurer, said, Browne.”
Alongside her services in the area of CareerSource Brevard, Browne is also an active participant in the Economic Development Committee of the Florida Space Coast since 2005, being a member of the executive committee of the commission since 2020. She is also an active participant of Brevard Health Alliance’s Board of Directors until 2020.
CareerSource Brevard, formerly Brevard Workforce, is a nonprofit regional public/private partnership part of CareerSource Florida. Keiser University Welcoming New Clearwater Campus President
Keiser, The University’s Clearwater Campus, has a new president! Fabian Fernandez has worked for over 20 years in higher education and brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position. “I have the desire to educate,” he states. President Fernandez completed his undergraduate qualification in Business Business from Kaplan University and his master’s degree in leadership at Palm Beach Atlantic University. He is currently working on his PhD in higher education at Liberty University. Additionally, he has more than 16 years of experience working in high-growth businesses and large corporations.
In his early years in a South American orphanage, he, along with his 17 siblings, was taken in by a pastor and a missionary who managed an orphanage with 50 kids in a tiny community in Uruguay. The family moved to America at six and stayed in Virginia for a few years. He was the only of his siblings to get an education in college.
President Fernandez is aware of the value of education. Recently, he was appointed as a negotiator for non-federal parties during the 2019 Negotiated Rulemaking sessions of the U.S. Department of Education and is currently a Florida Association of Postsecondary Schools and Colleges Board member. The president of the association, Fernandez, believes that honesty, teamwork, dedication and determination to do his job are the main ingredients in his success over the years.
